Douglas and Liz skiing

Douglas started skiing at Hochsolden, Austria when he was 10 and Liz started skiing after university and college and became a skiing instructor at Aviemore Scotland. Douglas skied in Andorra, Austria, France, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and U.S.A. and Liz in Austria, France, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland and Canada. Douglas retired from skiing aged 70 and Liz aged 64.

Douglas skiing aged 10. Note the skis were wooden, the poles ancient and the boots were leather and used skins on skis to climb the mountains!

Note the length of Liz’s long skis and she was wearing leather boots too!

Douglas & Liz had many happy years skiing together in Europe and Scotland where they used to ski most weekends at all the ski resorts of Glencoe, Glenshee, Aviemore, The Lecht but mainly at Nevis Range by Fort William. Calum, Gemma and Gillan joined them skiing at various times.
