Journey No 11 – 1st to 3rd June 2010
1st June 2010
Departed Carrick Castle for Corpach by Fort William to visit Douglas’ parents for a couple of days and Liz, as Scottish Chair, to attend an Institute of Outdoor Learning Scotland (IOL) committee meeting and workshop the next day.
We stopped at the Cruachan Power Station on the way up beside Loch Awe, however the first tour we could book on was at 14.00 hrs and it was only 11.30 hrs on arrival, so we decided to go back there another time. We crossed over Connel Bridge north of Oban and the Ballachulish Bridge en route to Corpach ( normally we go via Tyndrum and over Rannoch Moor – 1142 ft at the summit) and stopped at Fort William to do Douglas’ parents shopping and refuel. (53 l = £63.02 – Mileage reading 115306 km – Ave. 24.01 mpg). We arrived Corpach at teatime and parked up the the apartments’ car park for the night.
2nd June 2010
Douglas dropped off Liz at Outward Bound at Loch Eil for her meetings that day and then did some more shopping for his parents before helping them around the apartment for the rest of the day until Liz returned back in the evening.
3rd June 2010
We generally assisted Douglas’ parents in the morning before departing for home arriving at 17.00 hrs. Trip mileage 347 km (217 miles) for the journey – reading 115492.
25th-28th June 2010 – Additional note
Following Harrie’s MOT on 12th May, we took Harrie to our garage in Strachur to have the four minor points raised on the MOT Advice checked out. None of the items mentioned actually needed to be done, so we collected Harrie and brought her home again with no charges.
Trip mileage 62 km. Total mileage reading 115554 km.
